“People think you get out of prison, this is the promised land. It’s not. You get out of prison, this is the wilderness.” So says Julio Medina, former drug dealer and founder of the Exodus Transitional Community, an organization that tries to break the vicious cycle of recidivism. The staff at Exodus, formerly incarcerated men and women, work hard to help individuals leaving prison with their struggles to stay off the streets, out of jail and to find jobs.
